Templates
Templates give your conversations a head start. Each template contains a prompt that shapes how Pia responds — like setting the tone, topic, or role before you even type your first message.
Pia comes with built-in templates to get you started. You can also create your own.
Viewing Your Templates
Section titled “Viewing Your Templates”- Open Settings → Templates
- Browse the list of template cards
Each card shows the template name and a short description. Look for these badges:
- Built-in — A pre-configured template that ships with Pia
- Default — The template Pia uses for every new conversation
Creating a Template
Section titled “Creating a Template”- Open Settings → Templates
- Click Add Template
- Enter a name and description
- Write your prompt — this is the instruction Pia follows at the start of a conversation
- Save your template
Your new template will appear in the list alongside the built-in ones.
Setting a Default Template
Section titled “Setting a Default Template”The default template is applied automatically whenever you start a new conversation. Only one template can be the default at a time.
- Find the template you want in the list
- Click Set Default
The Default badge moves to your chosen template.
Viewing a Template’s Prompt
Section titled “Viewing a Template’s Prompt”Want to see exactly what a template tells Pia? Click View Prompt on any template card. This opens the full prompt text in a read-only viewer.
Editing a Template
Section titled “Editing a Template”- Find your template in the list
- Click Edit
- Make your changes
- Save
Deleting a Template
Section titled “Deleting a Template”- Find your template in the list
- Click Delete
- Confirm the deletion
If the deleted template was your default, you’ll want to set a new default so new conversations still get a template applied.
