Your First Conversation
After installing Pia, you can start chatting immediately.
Quick Start
Section titled “Quick Start”- Launch Pia from the Start Menu or desktop shortcut
- Choose an AI provider in Settings → Providers (or use the default)
- Type a message in the chat input and press Enter
Choosing an AI Provider
Section titled “Choosing an AI Provider”Pia supports multiple AI backends — Pia Cloud, OpenAI, Azure OpenAI, OpenRouter, Mistral, and three ways to run a model on your own hardware (Ollama, OpenAI-compatible, vLLM).
If you signed in to Pia Cloud during setup, you already have a working provider and can skip this. Otherwise see the AI Providers Guide for the full list and setup steps.
Speech Input
Section titled “Speech Input”Pia supports local speech-to-text that runs on your machine. Click the microphone button or use the keyboard shortcut to dictate instead of typing.
